Reusable cell culture chambers with exclusionary surface

Microscope chambers, also known as cell culture chambers or live cell imaging chambers, are used in microscopy experiments to study biological specimens, cells and tissues. These chambers provide an environment that mimics the conditions necessary for the growth and survival of living cells while allowing for high-resolution imaging and observation.

Microscope chambers are designed to be used for any microscopy system that is equipped to precisely control various environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, gas composition, and pH levels. By controlling these parameters, researchers can create an optimal environment that closely resembles the conditions inside a living organism, allowing cells to grow and behave naturally.

These chambers typically consist of a transparent lower cover glass, which serves as an observation area for the microscopy, and an upper cover glass, which encloses the sample and can be removed if the environment is checked. There are many types of culture chambers. These are often made of plastic or other materials that cannot be used repeatedly. Such chambers are designed for one-time use and are difficult to be sterilised.

To maintain the desired environmental conditions, microscopic chambers are often equipped with heating elements, temperature sensors and regulators that control the temperature inside the chamber. Our solution consists of a stainless steel metal adaptation where the chamber is formed by a central opening of varying size. This solution is suitable for use in current installed systems with humidity control chambers, gas chambers that allow to precisely adjust the composition of the atmosphere inside the chamber, allowing researchers to reproduce specific physiological conditions.

These chambers are suitable for use with a variety of microscopy techniques, including bright-field observation, phase contrast, fluorescence and confocal fluorescence microscopy, super-resolution microscopy and nanoscopy, making them an essential tool in a wide range of research areas such as cell biology, developmental biology, neuroscience, pharmacology and tissue engineering. By providing a controlled environment for live cell imaging, microscopic chambers allow researchers to investigate cellular processes, observe dynamic cellular events, and gain real-time insights into the behavior and interactions of living cells.

Custom Solution

Due to customer requirements, we have currently designed two types of chambers with an exclusive surface with different heights for more or less media. The chamber is made of highly durable stainless steel and can be used repeatedly. The surface is specially ground so the coverslips adhere without any fixing.

Main features

  • High quality surface
  • Special application for high-end micro-copy
  • Compatible with slide holders and gas control chambers etc.
